Newrest has entered into an agreement to acquire Sodexo Maroc SA through its Moroccan subsidiary Newrest Maroc Services SA. Closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of Moroccan antitrust authorities. In 2020, Sodexo Maroc SA’s average number of employees was 1381. Thanks to this acquisition and its partnership with Rahal Group, Newrest intends to pursue its development in Morocco in the sectors of contract catering, facility management, inflight catering, airport restaurant concessions and on-board train catering.
In Morocco, Newrest has been associated since 2006 with the ambassador of Moroccan gastronomy in the world. The Rahal group, operating since 1946, is the world-renowned Master Caterer specialized in high-end gastronomy and the organization of international events such as the COP 22, the African Cup of Nations, the DAVOS conference (Switzerland), the Islamic Summit or the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
Founded in 1996 as Catair, Newrest Group, chaired by Olivier Sadran and Jonathan Stent-Torriani, is now the only operator to operate in all catering and related service sectors: inflight catering, buy-on-board, duty free on board, catering, remote sites services, rail catering, airport catering concessions and motorways. With 29,500 employees in 57 countries, Newrest Group, with a managed turnover of 1,365 billion euros in 2020, is also the world’s leading independent player in inflight catering.
