Newrest has opened a new production unit in Gatwick for British Airways

Newrest, a French out-of-home restaurant specialist with 1.2 million meals served daily in 49 countries, has just opened a new Inflight unit at London-Gatwick Airport, specifically dedicated to all of British Airways services.

This unit served its first flights on Tuesday, November 12th, and will supply up to 80 flights per day in high season divided into long and medium haul flights, VIP flights and sales services on board.

The London-Gatwick unit is a showcase of Newrest innovation know-how. The Group has deployed all the latest technologies developed in the service of the air catering business lines including robotic trainings, technical assistance in the assembly of on-board sales trolleys, technological assistance in flight preparation and distribution and the automation of dishwashers & trays with automatic removal and sorting of cutlery.

Sustainable development is also at the heart of the Newrest architects’ construction project, which envisioned the London-Gatwick unit a lighting system for the energy-efficient unit, a waste sorting system and an aluminum can compactor.

With this new Inflight unit, Newrest significantly strengthens its presence in the United Kingdom, where the Group was already present in 9 airports (London Heathrow, London City, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Exeter, Southampton and Bristol).
