Newrest is committed to sustainable development as such, it will be using chicken eggs from farms that use alternative caging methods, worldwide, between now and 2025.
Newrest, the French catering specialist with 1 million meals served each day, commits to procuring chicken eggs (in shells and liquid) from farms that use alternative caging methods between now and 2025. This commitment, unique in the airline catering sector, constitutes a major step in the strategy of the Group towards sustainable development. Going forward, Newrest undertakes only to procure eggs from uncaged hens from local producers in each country where the Group is present.
Aware that consumers are more and more attentive to the provenance and production conditions of food, Newrest and its international procurement department are committed to a comprehensive and rigorous CSR approach. The group, which is present in 50 countries, is thus the first airline caterer to commit to a process of global procurement of eggs from uncaged hens.
“With this commitment, we hope to create a global dynamic with the caterers and stimulate a process of collaboration with our partners to encourage and actively contribute to the progressive evolution of the sector as a whole. As we want to be a responsible caterer and remain sensitive to the messages of the associations supporting the Open Wings Alliance, we will be assisted, at the global level, by stakeholder associations concerned, in order to promote the overall implementation of our CSR policy and to enable us to achieve our objectives”, declares Olivier Sadran, Co-President and founder of Newrest.
With origins in Group Catair in 1996, and founded by its Co-CEO’s Olivier Sadran and Jonathan Stent-Torriani, Newrest is the only major catering company active in all catering and related hospitality segments including airline catering, buy-on-board, duty-free on board, contract catering, remote site and support services, rail catering, airport and motorway retail.
With 2016 revenues under management of almost 1.69 Billion Euros and more than 29,500 employees world-wide in 50 countries, Newrest is also the first largest ‘independent’ airline caterer world-wide.
At year end closing 2016 (September) Newrest is 90.4% management-owned, with its managers holding its capital (300 managers). The remaining capital is held by Naxicap Partners (5.3%), Ardian (ex. Axa PE) (2.8%) and BNP Paribas Dvpt (1.5%).
Newrest is committed to constant improvement and innovation for its clients, the well-being and progress of its employees and managers, a sustainable and durable development of the company, and total respect of social and environmental values in all of its activities.
