Newrest entered the Croatian market in 2006 through a joint venture with the Airport of Dubrovnik. At this time, the company began with Inflight catering and over the years has expanded to add Retail and Staff Canteen catering to its activities portfolio.
The In-flight catering renders services mainly to the domestic carrier Croatia Airlines, but also caters for VIP/private jet flights and charter flights of several world-wide airlines. The VIP sector is the fastest growing with more than 400% growth in the past 5 years and currently represents 25% of inflight activity revenues in Newrest Croatia.
In addition to the 10-year Retail concession from 2010, in 2017 Newrest Dubrovnik won a tender for a 7-year retail activities concession in the newly built Terminal C and thus has added 4 new points of sales to the 4 existing making it 8 points of sales and 1 hot kitchen.
Thanks to winning a new tender for a 2-year contract for catering services for a major construction company, the Staff feeding activity currently serves 350 meals per day to the employees of Dubrovnik Airport and several firms based in the surrounding areas.
The company grew steadily and within the past 5 years has increased its revenues by 70% as well as doubled its PBIT.
Despite fierce competition for most of the contracts up for renewal this year, Newrest Croatia secured 100 % of its activity and won a 7-year concession contract in the new Terminal C at Dubrovnik airport.
Newrest is operating 3 new points of sale in this terminal – cafés, 2 kiosks, an outdoor terrace with a coffee station and a 160 mÇ kitchen – added to the points of sale which already exist. This translates into over 2,000 m2 of points of sale operated just by Newrest teams in Dubrovnik.
Over winter 2017, Newrest landed a short-term contract for Inflight services on Titan Airways and served over 50 flights out of Dubrovnik. With its consistent quality system approach, the subsidiary successfully renewed its ISO 9001:2008 for the 3rd consecutive time.
