Our history

20 years of gourmet expertise.

Since its creation, Newrest’s mission has been to reinvent catering and related services. Born of an entrepreneurial project, the group quickly became a human and collective adventure, driven by the passion and commitment of its teams.

Today, with the same boldness and determination to innovate, Newrest continues to grow while remaining true to its founding values. More than a group, it embodies a true family, shaped by trust, collaboration and a shared vision of the future.

1996

The genesis

Creation of Catair by Olivier Sadran

2001

Catair joins Eurest Inflight

Integration of Catair into Eurest Inflight (Compass Airline Catering Division)

2005

Creation of Newrest

2006

Inflight catering on the rise in France

Opening of the inflight catering unit at Paris-Charles de Gaulle

2008

Expansion in the Middle East

Newrest forges strategic partnerships in the Middle East and makes a succession of acquisitions from international groups: Saudia Airlines Catering, Wacasco in the Sultanate of Oman, LSG in Spain.

2010

Rail expertise and a new international dimension

Acquisition of Compagnie des Wagons-Lits and intensification of our international expansion

2012

NEWREST accelerates its development

Successful IPO for Saudia Airlines Catering.
Signing of the landmark Hudbay mine in Peru.
Opening up to the Asian market.
2013

Success in the rail adventure

Winning the world's largest rail catering contract with SNCF.
Consolidation of our presence in Africa and the Middle East.
2014

Strengthening & diversification

Newrest Rahal in Morocco strengthens its airport concession management business and diversifies into inflight catering.
Morocco is Newrestʼs largest subsidiary outside Europe.
2016

Newrest on the rise

Consolidated sales exceed one billion euros. Creation of a division dedicated
to catering in France.

2018

The American dream

The American market opens up to us. Creation of two air catering units for Delta Airlines. Air Canada entrusts us with the management of its international hub in Montreal.

2019

Asian development & resilience

Acceleration of our development in Asia: Cambodia, Myanmar.
The Covid 19 crisis has prompted us to reinvent ourselves, building on our financial strength and resilience.
2021

Renewed confidence

Major contract renewals and wins. American expansion continues in Atlanta and Houston. ÖBB and SNCF renew their confidence in Newrest Wagons-Lits. We set up a new organization to meet the challenges of business recovery.

2022

Consolidation in Europe

We strengthen our European network in Scandinavia and Germany. Start of the historic contract with Scandinavian Airlines. EasyJet awards us all its stopovers in continental Europe (excluding Italy).

2023

Innovation on the agenda

2023 marks the launch of the Octopus Facility Management offer. In the air transport sector, deployment of robot lines and establishment of a presence in Mauritius.
Creation of the " Foundation Unlimited ".
2024

First Digital Factory

Opening of our first digitalized factory for Transavia in Paris-Wissous and new operations in Iceland and Saudi Arabia

2025

Major acquisitions

Acquisition of Compass Group activities in Chile, Mexico and Colombia. Acquisition of GEPSA, a subsidiary of the Engie group.
Opening of the Paris - Sucy Digital Factory dedicated to railways and of the new robotized unit in Madrid
