Newrest provides an in-the-air catering experience to Pope Francis in Greece
Pope Francis’ visit from the 4th to the 6th of December gave the opportunity to Newrest teams in Greece to serve him high quality meals. This inflight catering experience has been real thanks to the collaboration with Aegean Airlines and the renowned Greek Chef Lefteris Lazarou. The design of desserts had the signature of the famous Greek Pastry chef, Stelios Parliaros.
To meet the Bishop of Rome’s expectations, the trio adapted its culinary know-how to this VIP event. Newrest Greece and Chef Lazarou used their talent and experience to develop beautiful menus using fresh, local, traditional products and recipes of Greek influence combined with some Italian influence.
The leader of the Roman Catholic Church enjoyed the high-level catering during his flights through the Mediterranean cities: Larnaca – Athens, Athens-Mytilene, Mytilene-Athens and Athens-Rome. Aegean Airlines flew Pope Francis on one of their new state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft.
It was a great honor and joy for Newrest Hellas to prepare meals for this important Vatican mission in conjunction with Chef Lazarou and Aegean Airlines. Newrest looks forward to teaming up again soon.
