Fabrice Amedeo – 2017 Transat Jacques Vabre in sight!

On last February 18th, after almost 104 days of solitude, Fabrice Amedeo completed his first Vendée Globe with art and style in 11th position. Three months after his return to shore, the sailor-journalist took the time to digest this incredible adventure and now turns to the future. A new chapter that opens with the release yesterday of its monohull after a post-round the world work. A frame that remains the same but which reveals the strengthened commitment of certain partners. On Newrest-Brioche Pasquier’s board, Fabrice Amedeo set out on the 2017 season, culminating in the Transat Jacques Vabre at the end of the year.

It’s a little back to school for Fabrice Amedeo! Three months after the end of a first Vendée Globe which definitely made it enter in “the big league”, the navigator-journalist put his monohull back in water yesterday Wednesday in Lorient (56), a project well carried out by its technical team, Yvon Berrehar, Julien Romagné and Jérémie Flahault. True to their habits, the four men did not launch any major maneuvers, but made sure to give the Imoca its full potential and reliability after a round the world in the keel. “We only carried out an inspection and repair of what was damaged on board, confirms Fabrice Amedeo. The rudders, which had shown some weaknesses during the race, were returned to the manufacturer, as was the keel jack and the rig that had to be inspected. The team then received everything and put everything together again. Overall, the boat suffered very little during the Vendée Globe, so there was not much to do“.

New season, new colors!

This return to the liquid element is for Fabrice Amedeo and his partners, the opportunity to reveal a new name and new commitments. Thus, if Newrest Group, catering specialist, has remained faithful to the sailor since 2014, he will now be associated with Brioche Pasquier who joins him as a title partner. Originally from Maine et Loire, like Fabrice Amedeo, the company wished to reinforce its presence at his side after a happy joint debut on the Vendée Globe. “It is a great satisfaction for me to see that all the partners who are committed to my side continue the adventure, because Matmut also continues to support me,” says Fabrice. “I am very happy to continue our story with Newrest, who has given me his confidence for several seasons, with whom I have forged a strong relationship and with whom I share an unprecedented human adventure. I am also looking forward to embarking Brioche Pasquier for this new season. The spirit of the company, its roots in Maine and Loire, the profound humanity of its leaders: we were made build a relationship and set out together on the oceans!“.

Intense return

But the end of the project also marks the end of a first phase for this year 2017; that of rehabilitation on land and a return except idle for Fabrice Amedeo who divides his time between Levallois-Perret and La Trinité-sur-Mer: “Since the end of the Vendée Globe, the recovery has been quite rhythmic. I went to meet my partners who asked me a lot to come and share my adventure. I started writing my next book, inspired by my world tour, which will be released next year by Glénat. I also spent time with my family, took over the physical preparation and prepared the suite”.

A Transat Jacques Vabre to consolidate and share

Now it is time to navigate and train for a season that will pass through the ArMen Race in La Trinité-sur-Mer, home port of Newrest-Brioche Pasquier, and of course by a participation in the 13th Transat Jacques Vabre, which will leave Le Havre on November 5th to Salvador de Bahia, in Brazil. A duo race that Fabrice Amedeo will compete with a sailor whose name will be unveiled shortly and for which the objectives are very clear: “I have made great progress on my first Vendée Globe and my objective is to consolidate my achievements on a scale of a transatlantic, with a confirmed co-skipper. I know I have a real job to do on performance to keep learning. All this obviously taking care to always share a maximum with the earth”.
