Newrest – Art & Fenêtres in its element. Cap on 2018!

Fresh but happy day for Fabrice Amedeo. Thus, after a dry setting of his new mount in Lorient, the time of a last Transat Jacques Vabre at the helm of his old boat, the navigator-journalist proceeded this morning to the launching of his new monohull with foils. With its new colors, Newrest - Art & Fenêtres joined its element after a light construction. In a few days, it will return to its home port of La Trinité-sur-Mer, a moment awaited by the whole team and especially by the skipper. Fabrice Amedeo is impatient at the idea of pulling his first edges and heading for a new season and the preparation of the 40 years of the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe.

The cold that has enveloped Brittany for a few days does not in any way affect the enthusiasm of Fabrice Amedeo. At 8 o’clock on Wednesday, under the launching crane of the Submarine Base in Lorient, he looked like a little boy on Christmas Eve. Out of the shipyard that had been sheltering it since the end of last year, its brand-new boat, an IMOCA with foils bought from the Dutchman Pieter Heerema last summer, unveiled for the first time its new colors. A highlight for the one who passes a milestone by taking the helm of a last generation mount, one year after the end of his first Vendée Globe. “This is not my first launch but it has a special flavor, confided Fabrice Amedeo this morning. First, because I had the impression to climb an entrepreneurial Everest to get there and to be able to get my hands on this beautiful boat. Then because this launch has the taste of a well-completed story around the globe last year with most of my partners who have renewed their confidence. Finally, because I do not go out into the unknown: I know the southern seas, I know the trans-Atlantic races in IMOCA and I return with a deep desire to relive incredible moments, to reconnect with these magical instants of achievement on water but also with the desire to raise my level of play and do beautiful things.

From now on, Newrest – Art & Fenêtres will take its first edge early next week. Navigations that will allow the sailor to get used to his new companion and partners to write a new strong story marked in November, by participating in the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe. A legendary event that will celebrate its 40th birthday in 2018 … the exact number of candles that will blow Fabrice Amedeo on February 24th. All a symbol! In the meantime, place to reunion with the wide and new adventures…

They said:

Olivier Sadran: co-CEO of the Newrest Group: “We are delighted to extend the adventure with Fabrice Amedeo until the Vendée Globe 2020, a reflection of Newrest long-term commitments in all of its implications. The new dimension taken by this project, marked by innovation and determination, perfectly matches the values conveyed by all Newrest employees in our various catering businesses. ”

Cécile Sanz, President of Art & Fenêtres: “It is with great pride that we are witnessing this launch. The overall aesthetic of the boat is sublime, with its lines, its colors and the highlighting of the different partners. All our stores (200 in France) were in front of our Facebook page “Défi voile Art & Fenêtres – Fabrice Amedeo” to attend this launch live and are already preparing to encourage Fabrice in his next races!”
