Newrest-Costa Rica San-José’s inflight kitchen (Casa Proveedora Phillips) was created in 1947, providing services including beverages and snacks to Pan Am’s DC-3 flights from La Sabana Internacional Airport in San José, Costa Rica to Guatemala City.
With the transfer to the new Airport, Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in May 1955, the company moved to a new facility located at Rio Segundo de Alajuela.
In 2015, Newrest Group purchased Casa Proveedora Phillips and took over the management of San-José (SJO) inflight kitchen on the 1st of June 2015. Since then, Newrest has been implementing an improvement plan in order to bring the facility up to Newrest’s international standards.
Newrest Costa Rica’s SJO unit is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified, and follows a strict HACCP process.
The unit currently supplies more than 6.600 meals per day and services an average of 60 flights per day.
