Newrest started its history in Canada in opening a catering unit in Montréal in May 2009.
In March 2010 Newrest opened a new kitchen unit in Calgary.
Continuing our growth we have opened a brand new unit in Toronto in February 2015.
Newrest in Canada is now present in 3 sectors of activity in providing catering for Airlines, lounge, and train.
Newrest turnover in Canada realized 22 Millions Euros in 2016 and provides between 15000 to 25000 meals per day.
The majority of Newrest Canada development took place on the Toronto unit with arrivals from American Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Interjet, and Turkish Airlines. The Calgary teams started the on-board service for Edelweiss.
On February 22nd, 2017, Newrest Montreal received the bronze medal at the 2016 QSAI Excellence Awards Ceremony in Athens. The ceremony honoured the 9 nalists in on-board catering for food safety and quality around the world by awarding bronze, silver and gold awards to 3 regions, as well as the Platinum Award to the global winner.
The Newrest production unit in Montreal was also awarded by Qatar Airways for its services in the America zone in 2016, and was awarded the best caterer award for the North America/Latin America zone by Qatar Airways for 2016.
All 3 Newrest units in Canada are ISO 9001-certified and the Calgary unit was ISO 22000 – certified last September. The objectives in terms of certification will be to obtain ISO 22000 in Montreal and Toronto in the current 2017-18 year.
