The Newrest Barcelona catering unit began operations in 1991. The Newrest Barcelona unit is proudly dedicated to preparing meals for airlines, business aviation and railway companies, in addition to buy-on-board and onboard Duty-free food products. In-flight catering is the main activity of the Barcelona Catering Unit with a well balanced portfolio of Long Haul, European and Charter flight operations.
Major renovations and upgrades were conducted between 1996 and 2004, and in June 2008 the Newrest Barcelona unit moved into a brand new facility in order to accommodate the growing market and customer demands.
The new installations are state-of-the-art and efficient.
The 5,000 m2 site prepares an average of 15,000 meals every day. The Newrest Barcelona site meticulously follows the HACCP Quality and Hygiene procedures. The unit includes one kitchen for Western-style cuisine and another for Halal products, and is ISO 9001, ISO 22 0000 and Halal certified.
